1. "A good vision is not about your product, it's about what happens to the world as a result of using your product"

2. The main ingredients for success as a Product Manager are

(a) Vision

(b) Execution

(c) People

If you are early in your career you probably get a promotion or two by launching a good product. But there will be a point where if you just rely on execution it won't be enough, and you have to start moving around and showing other skills. This is where vision and people start, so it's best to start practicing these two skills as they become more dominant in your career as you progress.

3. Consider all the hard work you put into making your product and summarize it in a table that compares Impact vs Activities. Probably most of the impact came from small actions of the Vision-People vectors, and not from the daily vector of execution. So spend more time with your team, explain your vision to your new engineer, and make sure they understand you well. This will remove noise and help them make the right decision during execution.
